Text to Speach

With my Dyslexia I've always wrestled with spelling, grammar and communicating at times but mostly with writing/typing. Reading over my writing or typed words, multiple times in my head or out loud sounds just fine to me but then re-reading an email with simple mistakes like fallow vs follow is mortifying.

Once I started working in IT, I often need to reach mass amounts of people at once, or really needed to nail a proposal presentation, so I found that I needed an additional proofread even after a spell check. MS Word helps at catching most of my spelling atrocities and some grammar issues but not all. Once I think I'm happy with what I have, I use Words built in "Read Aloud" feature.

If you don't have a MS Office or MS365 sub, you can use several free options. I like espeak. It's available for Windows, Mac, and Linux, though I have only used it in Windows. The Windows version uses SAPI. SAPI is built into windows so just download, install, and search for the TTSApp and start pasting in what you want read aloud.

I even used it for this post!

Did I miss anything? How do you proofread yourself?
